On Wednesday Octorber 24, the organization Lawyers Without Borders-Canada donated 11 motorcycles, a vehicle, five solar panels, 32 computers, 20 desks and other equipment to the Citizens Protection Office ( OPC) under the project entitled “Access to justice and the fight against impunity”.
These tools valued at 211 thousand 207 Canadian dollars or more than 11 million gourdes will be used by 11 agents who will be deployed in nine geographical departments of the country, after their recruitment by competition for this program that will last five years, according to the representative of the Association.
Apollinaire Fotso emphasized the importance of strengthening the capacity of the OPC to enable it to better fulfill its mission in the field through the collection of reliable data.
The head of OPC Renan Hedouville thanked the organization “Lawyers Without Borders-Canada” for this donation and asked his agents concerned to make good use of the equipment. He hopes that these efforts will contribute to the intensification of the fight for respect for human rights in the country.
