Japan awards US $4.4 million to Haiti for road construction and agriculture
Japan has announced that it will contribute US $ 4, 4 million to Haiti for acquisition of equipment to build roads and to finance social programs.
A grant agreement was signed by Japanese ambassador to Haiti Yoshiaki HATTA and Haitian Foreign Affairs Minister Edmond Bocchit during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Hatta says this agreement is part of the socio-economic development program between the two countries.
Yoshiaki HATTA reiterated Japan’s commitment to continue to support the Haitian government’s efforts to improve people’s lives.
A portion of these funds will be used to strengthen agricultural production, declared Minister Edmond Bocchit as he hails the signing of this agreement. “The growth of the agricultural sector is a pillar to fight the famine in Haiti” added Haiti’s Chancelor.
