In a nationally televised speech Wednesday night, Haitian President Jovenel Moïse says he is determined to complete his five-year term while denouncing the behavior of opposition leaders who he said are violating the Constitution by demanding his resignation.
“There is no justification for crimes and threats of crime” Moïse said, referring to opposition leaders’ threats against government officials and contractors.
He once again reiterated his determination to continue the dialogue with all sectors. He called on Prime Minister to launch talks with all Haitians without exclusion in order to define a program for the well being of future generations.
President Moïse announces the reactivation of the disarmament commission in order to deal with the violence between armed gangs in the metropolitan area. “Impunity does not mix well with democracy the judicial authorities must punish those who sow death among the population”, added Mr. Moses.
He urges the Prime Minister and his government to restore peace and security throughout the country.
