Petrocaribe: Lamothe skips meeting with Chief Prosecutor
Former Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Salvador Lamothe failed to respond to the invitation of Chief Prosecutor Ocname Clamé Daméus on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 to answer questions about the Petrocaribe case.
Mr Lamothe’s lawyers Mario Delcy and Edwin Coq that their client did not show up because of a strike my members of the Port-au-Prince bar. They added that the invitation sent to the former Prime Minister was not sent within the statutory time limit.
According to his lawyers, Mr Lamothe is ready to cooperate fully with judicial authorities if the conditions requiered by law are respected.
Chief Prosecutor Dameus says he understands Mr Lamothe’s position and will set a new date to meet with the former head of government.
