Monsignor Guire Poulard has died

Monsignor Guire Poulard, Archbishop Emeritus of Port-au-Prince has passed away the night of Sunday, December 9, 2018. He was 76 years old. he had been hospitalized because of pancreatic cancer.

Ordained a priest on June 25, 1972, he was appointed Archbishop of Port-au-Prince on January 12, 2011 to replace Monsignor Joseph Miot killed during the 2010 earthquake.

He had resigned from his ministry on October 7, 2017, because he had reached the age limit set by the Catholic Church.

Monsignor Guire Poulard had taken clear positions on some serious political crisis from 2001 to 2004 under the administration of Jean Bertrand Aristide.
