Lower House of Parliament fires Prime Minister Jean Henry Ceant
The Chamber of Deputies fired Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant this Monday March 18, 2019. 93 deputies voted for the dismissal of the Prime Minister who had just completed 6 months as Head of Government.
Deputies close to the President voted the motion of censure against Prime Minister Céant who is involved in an open conflict with President Jovenel Moïse.
Prime Minister Ceant was not present in the Chamber of Deputies. In a letter addressed to Lower House President Gary Bodeau earlier in the day, He claimed that he had to respond to an invitation from the Senate and therefore could not respond to the .
The final tally was 93 for, 6 against with 3 abstentions. The vote came after a thug of war between the Senate which is favorable to the Prime Minister and the lower chamber where President Moise enjoys a majority.
