Haiti votes not to recognize the new mandate of Nicolas Maduro.
The Republic of Haiti voted on Thursday, January 10, 2019, in favor of a resolution of the Organization of American States (OAS) that does not recognize the legitimacy of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.
Haiti and the Dominican Republic are among 19 countries that voted for the resolution.
6 countries have approved the text and 8 others have abstained.
The vote took place at the OAS headquarters in Washington. The countries that sponsored the resolution are: Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, the United States, Paraguay and Peru.
