A telluric jolt felt in the Nippes Department

An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Nippes Department on Monday morning, December 10, 2018.

Geologist Claude Preptit confirmed the epicenter was located at sea off Grand-Boucan, a village located near the town of Petit-Trou de Nippes.

The Nippes, South and North departments are much more exposed to natural disasters, according to the Geologist inviting the population to remain vigilant.

Haiti is not the only country in the Caribbean to be exposed to natural disasters, said the general director of the Bureau of Mines and Energy (BME) Claude PREPETY.
