No state sponsored carnival this year At a press conference held this Wdnesday, the organizing comittee anounced that there will be no national carnival organized by the state this year.  The government will support any municipality willing to organize their own local festivities. “It is technically too late for the government to talk about organizing the national carnival in the city of Gonaïves,” said Jean-Michel Lapin, Minister of Culture.
